Account & Data Deletion
mealQ is committed to respecting your right to erasure. This page explains how to delete your mealQ account and what happens to your data when you do.
How to delete your account
You can request account deletion directly inside the mealQ app — no email required:
- Open mealQ and go to Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom of the page.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Type
DELETEin the confirmation field and enter your current password. - Tap Delete My Account to submit the request.
You will be logged out of all devices immediately. Your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace period.
Cancelling a deletion request
You can cancel a pending deletion at any time during the 30-day grace period. Log back in to mealQ — a banner will appear at the top of every page with a Cancel deletion button. Tapping it cancels the request and restores your account.
After the 30-day period expires, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
What gets deleted

What is preserved (shared household data)
mealQ is a collaborative app. If you are a member of a shared household, content you created in that household (meals, shopping list items, meal plans) is reassigned to another household member so the rest of the household is not disrupted.

Retention period
Your account and personal data are purged within 30 days of your confirmed deletion request, in line with GDPR Article 17 ("right to erasure").
Platform backups: Cloudflare D1 point-in-time backups may retain data beyond the app-level delete. These backups expire automatically and are outside our direct control; they are not accessible to other users and are not used for any purpose other than disaster recovery.
